Ice Climbing Beginner Course in Adelboden

In the ice climbing basic course, you will learn how to handle crampons and ice tools safely. You will practice basic climbing techniques on frozen ice walls and waterfalls. A focus will be on the correct belaying technique to ensure the safety of all participants.

Course contents:

• Equipment knowledge
• Climbing technique using standard movements on ice
• Learning belaying techniques
• Placing ice screws

No prior climbing experience is required for this.

Clothing:

• Thermal underwear
• Long johns
• Warm socks like Falke or Rohner
• Ski pants, not too heavily padded
• Ski jacket
• Ski vest
• Fleece pullover or softshell
• Jacket with hood
• 1 pair of thin gloves
• 1 pair of warm gloves
• Beanie
• Sunglasses
• possibly gaiters

Technical Equipment:

• Backpack
• Thermos bottle
• Lunch
• Crampon-compatible mountain boots
• possibly spare shoes
• Helmet, harness, screw carabiner
• Crampons, ice axe, ice screws

• The public course takes place with at least 4 participants and may be cancelled if the number is not reached.
