The Secrets of Chocolate Making

At the House of Läderach, an interactive tour guides visitors through various themed areas. Along the way, you’ll learn interesting facts about the company's history. Here, you’ll also discover how to enjoy and taste chocolate with all five senses. In the second part of the tour, you’ll find out how delicious chocolate is made from cocoa beans. You will see how Läderach maintains the exceptional freshness and quality of their chocolate. Highlights of the tour include the "live production" and a visit to a chocolate fountain where you can sample three different types of chocolate. At the end of the approximately 90-minute tour, the guide reveals the secret behind Läderach’s unique freshness. Factory tours are available in various combinations: with or without the chocolate museum and with or without a chocolate workshop at the Walk-In Atelier. All options include extensive tastings of the delicious chocolate.

Chocolate Courses

At the House of Läderach, you can join a variety of chocolate courses suitable for all ages. You have the chance to mould figures from melted chocolate yourself and decorate them to your own liking. In the Walk-In Atelier, you work alongside a chocolatier to create your own chocolate bar, choosing your favourites from at least nine fine ingredients. Afterwards, your creation cools down in the cooling tunnel, and you decorate and package it yourself. No registration is needed for the Walk-In Atelier. Every course includes admission to the Chocolate Museum, and you can sample fresh chocolate straight from the chocolate fountain. The courses last about 120 minutes and are regularly expanded with seasonal special workshops like praline workshops or chocolate figures for special occasions.

Events for Kids

You can plan a fun children’s birthday party in the chocolate paradise at the House of Läderach in various ways. Chocolate always plays a big role, and kids can enjoy tasty treats—not just at the chocolate fountain.

The "Kids Birthday Party" is designed especially for children aged 8 and up, allowing up to 12 kids to decorate and mould their own chocolate together—including a museum visit and tasting at the chocolate fountain. Additionally, exciting event formats such as the "Magical Factory Tour" with a magician, museum treasure hunts, and seasonal chocolate workshops are available. All kids’ courses last about 120 minutes.

You can also experience an unforgettable team event or stag party in various ways.

At the House of Läderach, a wide range of experiences is available for groups, teams, and stag parties. There are different event formats where you can create chocolate together with your team or group, join private tours of the production and museum, or enjoy special moments like a shared breakfast or aperitif. Factory Outlet and Café at the House of Läderach

The House of Läderach features a factory outlet with a special surprise: the largest FreshChocolate counter in the world, offering over 20 delicious varieties.

Visitors are warmly invited to enjoy free samples and discover their favorite flavors. The large chocolate bars are produced daily in Switzerland and delivered to Läderach chocolatiers worldwide within a few days. There, they are individually broken into pieces according to customers' preferences at the counter.

Chocolate lovers can also explore the diverse range of products offered at the shop. This includes pralines, truffles, airy mini mousse, and other sweet temptations, all available at attractive prices.

Läderach is particularly well-known for its broken chocolate. Fruits, nuts, corn flakes, and other ingredients are generously mixed into the chocolate.

The House of Läderach is located in Bilten, in Glarus Nord. It’s easily accessible from Zürich or Schwyz. The buildings are fully wheelchair accessible, by the way.

Public Transport

From Zürich, you can reach Bilten by train in about an hour. From St. Gallen, it takes around 90 minutes via Uznach. If you’re coming from Schwyz, you’ll need to change public transport several times, so plan for at least two hours.

The Postbus 524 will take you directly to the factory in Bilten (stop Grabenstrasse).

By Car

You can reach the chocolate factory from Zurich in about 45 minutes via the A3. From Schwyz, it's about a 45-minute drive using Route 14 and the A3 to Bilten. The journey from St. Gallen takes approximately 20 minutes longer. You can choose between the eastern route on the A1, A13, and A3 or the western route via the A1.
