Lake Lucerne

Lake Lucerne got its name from the four historical "Waldstätten" where it is located. These are the three original cantons Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden, along with the canton of Lucerne. Here by the lake, the founders of the Swiss Confederation took the Rütli Oath.

The Lake Lucerne area also offers a wide range of activities for kids. One of the best is a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport. This interactive museum is the most visited in Switzerland, showcasing a large collection of locomotives, cars, ships, and airplanes. Additionally, the museum includes a planetarium and the “Swiss Chocolate Adventure”.
