Zug Christmas Market 2026

Zug has two new Christmas markets in 2026. From 19 November to 23 December, more than 60 huts stand on the lakeshore at Alpenquai, Mon–Wed 11:30–21:00, Thu–Sat until 22:00, Sun 11:00–20:00. From 10 to 23 December Lake Noël joins them on Landsgemeindeplatz, and on 12 and 13 December a market takes place for the first time in the castle courtyard of the Museum Burg Zug. The X-MAS Line stands on Bahnhofstrasse on nine days, and a winter market under cover takes place at the Freiruum on 5 and 6 December.

Zuger Weihnachtsmarkt am Alpenquai
Alpenquai on Lake Zug · since 2026 · more than 60 huts
More than 60 Christmas huts on the lakeshore with food, design and crafts, with seating nooks in between. There is also the Fondue Chalet with cheese fondue and fondue chinoise and a children's village with a carousel. The market was created by the team behind the Zürcher Wienachtsdorf.

Lake Noël Zug
Landsgemeindeplatz and lake promenade · around 35 vendors
Around 35 vendors with more than 250 dishes and products, with meat, vegetarian and vegan options, plus gift ideas, mulled wine and bars on Landsgemeindeplatz and on the lake promenade. More than 300 seats, performances by gospel choirs and music schools, a visit from St Nicholas.

Weihnachtsmarkt im Burghof (Museum Burg Zug)
Castle courtyard, Museum Burg Zug · since 2026 · more than a dozen stalls
For the first time, the castle courtyard of the Museum Burg Zug becomes a Christmas market: more than a dozen stalls with local and handmade products, plus mulled wine, Advent music, St Nicholas and, on Sunday, barrel-organ music. The museum is open on both days at reduced admission.

Bahnhofstrasse · since 2021 · 16 stalls
A small Christmas market on the illuminated Bahnhofstrasse: 16 stalls with porcelain, accessories, fashion, Christmas decorations, gift ideas and mulled wine, with live music on some evenings. The street's traders started it in 2021 with four stalls.

Wintermarkt im Freiruum
Freiruum (hall)
Two days of winter market in the hall of the Freiruum with handmade products and food stalls, all under one roof. For children there is candle dipping, face painting and a fairy-tale hour with St Nicholas.

Zuger Märlisunntig
On 6 December 2026, 14:00–18:00, the old town becomes a fairy-tale world with around 30 Märlistuben (storytelling rooms), a bazaar and carriage rides.

Good to know
Only half the market on weekdays
At Alpenquai only half of the huts are open Mon–Fri from 11:30 to 16:00; at weekends everything is open from the start.
Public holiday on 8 December
The Immaculate Conception is a public holiday in Zug: the market at Alpenquai is open until 22:00 on 7 December and from 11:00 to 21:00 on 8 December.
If it rains
The winter market at the Freiruum on 5 and 6 December takes place in a hall, with candle dipping, face painting and a fairy-tale hour with St Nicholas.

Alpenquai and Bahnhofstrasse are about a 5-minute walk from Zug station, Landsgemeindeplatz about 10 minutes.
