Thun Christmas Market 2026

The Thun Christmas market runs from 27 November to 23 December 2026 and stretches from Waisenhausplatz across the Mühlebrücke to Mühleplatz, Mon–Sat 11:00–20:00, Sun 11:00–18:00. In over 50 wooden huts there are spices, cheese, woollen hats, jewellery and Christmas decorations; the Märit Beizli stays open until 28 December. The market has been held since 1988. On Saturday 28 November the Advent market in the Obere Hauptgasse joins in, 09:00–17:00.

Over 50 wooden huts with spices, cheese, game sausage, gingerbread, woollen hats, jewellery and Christmas decorations, some of which change their offer daily. Also on offer are candle dipping, the Märit Beizli on Waisenhausplatz and a Bavarian curling lane on Mühleplatz.

Adventsmarkt Thun
Rathausplatz and Obere Hauptgasse (old town), Bälliz
One day of market in the old town: decorated stalls stretch from Rathausplatz, with its large Christmas tree, through the Obere Hauptgasse. Added to this are the boutiques and specialist shops of the city centre.

Christmas Event on Rathausplatz from 15:00 with a children's programme and a reindeer; the lights on the Christmas tree go on at 19:00.

Donkey rides on 13 and 20 December from 14:00 on Rathausplatz; St Nicholas comes to the market on 9 December at 14:00.

The Märit Beizli on Waisenhausplatz is open until 22:00 Mon–Sat and until 20:00 on Sun, also on 27 and 28 December.
