The Stuttgart Christmas market is open from 25 November to 23 December 2026, Sun–Thu 11:00–21:00, Fri and Sat 11:00–22:00. Around 250 stalls are spread across Schlossplatz, Schillerplatz, Karlsplatz and Marktplatz in the city centre. The market was first documented in 1692, and in 2025, according to the organiser, around 3.5 million visitors came.

What to expect

  • Award-winning stall roofs

    Christmas pyramid, winter landscapes and nativity scenes on the roofs. Every year the public and a jury choose the most beautiful stalls.

  • Children's fairy-tale land on Schlossplatz

    A steaming mini railway, a mini Ferris wheel, a nostalgic children's carousel and gingerbread hearts to decorate.

  • Tower musicians on the Stiftskirche

    On the market weekends, trombone choirs play every evening, Fri–Sun, from the roughly 60-metre-high tower of the Stiftskirche.

    Stuttgarter Weihnachtsmarkt

    Around 250 traders, market vendors and showmen between the Altes Schloss, the Stiftskirche and the town hall. In the courtyard of the Altes Schloss there are open-air concerts with free admission, and the children's fairy-tale land is on Schlossplatz.

    On the first day the stalls only open at 17:00; the official opening follows at 18:00 in the courtyard of the Altes Schloss.

  • By coach

    Coaches stop at Börsenplatz, around 5 minutes' walk from Schlossplatz, and then park free of charge at the Cannstatter Wasen (P10).
