Rothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas Market 2026

The Rothenburg Reiterlesmarkt runs from 20 November to 23 December 2026 on the Marktplatz, the Kirchplatz and the Grüner Markt, between the town hall and the St.-Jakobs-Kirche. It is open Sun–Thu 11:00–19:00 and Fri–Sat 11:00–20:00; on Totensonntag (Sunday of the Dead), 22 November, it is closed. The official opening with the Rothenburger Reiterle follows on 27 November at 17:00. Around 60 stalls sell Schneeballen, nativity scenes, Christmas tree decorations, quince mulled wine and Franconian bratwursts.

The stalls fill the Marktplatz in front of the town hall and the Ratstrinkstube and reach as far as the St.-Jakobs-Kirche. Besides mulled wine and bratwurst there are carvings and nativity scenes, nutcrackers, Bunzlau pottery, Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas decorations and the Rothenburger Schneeballen.

Night watchman at 21:30
After the market closes, the tour with the night watchman starts daily on the Marktplatz, except on 24, 25, 26 and 31 December.
