Ticket Brienz Rothorn Railway

Take this ticket to the highest peak in the canton of Lucerne: the Brienzer Rothorn. Or travel up to Planalp. You’ll ride in a carriage with large panoramic windows, pulled uphill by a historic steam locomotive. The journey passes through deep green forests and by typical Swiss pastures with cows. At the summit of the Brienzer Rothorn, a breathtaking view awaits you, with over 690 mountain peaks and the sparkling Lake Brienz.

Please note that during high visitor volumes or if a steam locomotive is out of service, diesel locomotives may be used for the guest service. However, this is rare. In such cases, ticket refunds are not possible.

Your ticket guarantees a seat with free choice of place. It’s therefore worth arriving at the station early, especially in peak season, to secure a good spot.

Valley station: Brienz

At Brienz, you board the wonderful panoramic carriage, and the historic steam locomotive starts pulling you up the mountain.

Intermediate station: Planalp

Throughout the trip, you enjoy the stunning panorama of the region. Discover the typical Swiss landscape with mountains, forests, and the beautiful Lake Brienz.

Mountain station: Brienzer Rothorn

After a lovely ride through the green countryside, you arrive at the top of the Brienzer Rothorn. There, you can enjoy a unique view of the surrounding region.

Brienz is a very cozy little town with plenty of highlights. Of course, this includes the deep blue Lake Brienz. If you're already in the area, you definitely should explore the lake. There are many ways to do that. Take a refreshing swim at the beautiful Brienz beach, rent a boat or pedal boat, or join a boat tour.

• On your birthday, you get free entry by showing your ID.
• You can park your car directly at the Brienz valley station in the paid parking lots of the Brienz Rothorn Bahn. Parking space reservations are not possible.

• Tickets are non-refundable in such cases.
• Cancelling or changing this booking afterwards is not possible. Time and date are binding and cannot be modified after booking.
