You are visiting the Beatus Caves above Lake Thun. The adjacent cave museum showcases the geology of the cave system. It provides information about cave research and scientific findings. You can explore the museum with an audio guide.
You explore the cave on your own. Along the way, you’ll find 25 information boards in English and German. Additionally, you can use the free "Saint Beatus" app.
The roughly one-hour circular route involves 297 steps and climbs 87 metres in altitude. You'll walk through grottos, ravines, and halls, admiring impressive stalactite formations. Streams and waterfalls appear along the path. The stairs and paths are always damp, and the caves maintain a constant temperature between 8 and 10°C.
Practical information:
Every Sunday from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the "Stein und Sein" restaurant at the Beatus Caves offers a cliffside brunch. While enjoying your meal, you get a stunning view of Lake Thun and the surrounding mountains. The Sunday brunch is very popular, so we recommend reserving your spot in advance.

It's a mystical and wonderful place. The only thing that bothered me was that I couldn’t scan the tickets from Swissactivities at the entrance.
