Schützenmatte – Parc Grand-Places
关于此地点
Jean Tinguely has surely earned well-deserved worldwide recognition, and his works adorn numerous European capitals and metropolises. The sculpture he created in memory of his friend, Formula 1 driver Jo Siffert, stands on the lawn of the Schützenmatte. It is the third water feature that Tinguely has built in a public square. In 1972, Tinguely had already made a proposal to the city council; he only received the green light ten years later, but he was able to choose the site. Placed in the centre of a large stone basin, this sculpture is made up of wheels, metal elements and flexible hoses. It is driven by a motor and sprays water cheerfully in all directions. The spectacle varies according to the season, depending on the influence of sun, clouds or frost.
