The Freddie Mercury statue at a glance The bronze statue by Czech sculptor Irena Sedlecká was unveiled in 1996 and stands at Place du Marché, right on the lakeside promenade. Freddie Mercury lived in Montreux for periods and recorded seven albums here with Queen, including “Made in Heaven”. Fans from all over the world leave flowers, letters and photos at the base.
