Away from the better-known Alpine crossings, the Via Valtellina follows a historic transport route along which Valtellina wine was carried from Tirano in Valtellina to Gargellen in Montafon. Experience the contrasts between well-known holiday resorts and lonely valleys, and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountains of the Bernina range. Make your dream come true and treat yourself to a break! Highlights: we cross four passes and go through three countries and three language regions. We pass through the picturesque Engadin, a high valley at the crossroads of cultures. A special feature of this route is that the entire distance is covered on foot. However, it is always possible to cover sections by bus or train – for example, if you feel a bit low on energy or want to take a day off. We walk along historic mule tracks – in places, the old cobblestones or cart tracks are still visible. The tour can also be booked in stages: part 1 from Gargellen (A) (you can also start in Klosters) to Pontresina (4 days); part 2 from Pontresina to Tirano (I) (5 days), so you can hike the route in different years.
