The themed trails start between the station and the village centre. Parking is available at the station and by the lake. A trip in May during the apple blossom, or in late summer during the Altnauer Apfelwochen, is especially lovely; the highlight is the autumn market on the last day. Apfelweg Lisi tells the story of the work of fruit growers at 14 stations along the red route. Apfelweg Emma reveals plenty about fruit and fruit growing, the apple village and Mostindien at 10 stations along the green route. Apfelweg Fredi follows the yellow route right through the village, introduces apples and pears, and keeps you engaged with riddles, recipes and wit. (Information boards in German only) In Altnau’s farm shops, village shops and restaurants, (almost) everything also revolves around the apple. Nowhere else in Thurgau do the Öpfelchüechli taste better than here – so they say.
