The fascinating natural spectacle around the legendary Martinsloch takes place again in autumn: on 29 and 30 September 2026, the sun shines through the rock window onto the village centre of Elm. It is a magical spectacle when, just before sunrise, the sun’s rays shine through the Martinsloch onto the tower of the only late Gothic church in the Glarnerland. The event lasts only about 5 minutes, then the sun disappears, only to rise for good shortly afterwards above the Tschingelhörner.
