The Zytglogge at a glance The medieval clock tower has stood in the heart of Bern’s old town since the 13th century. After a fire in 1405, it was converted into a clock tower. The clock mechanism from 1530 drives the famous figure display with the bear procession, jester and crowing rooster. At the top of the hour, onlookers gather in front of the tower.
