Tour of the exhibition with Cyrill Willi, head of mediation, Nidwaldner Museum The exhibition No Time To Lose tells the story of dance music in the canton of Nidwalden from 1900 to the present day. It focuses on the places where people came together to listen to music, dance and enjoy themselves: inns, dancings, discos, festivals. At Salzmagazin, folk music from the turn of the century comes back to life, in dancings jazz exudes a cosmopolitan flair, and discos such as Happy Day or Harissen bear witness to a time when Nidwalden was the epicentre of nightlife in Central Switzerland. It also looks at the continuities and changes that shaped musical enjoyment in the 20th century – from conflicts with the law to changing moral attitudes and technical innovations. The exhibition shows how music and society influence each other. Finally, it also explores music from the canton. From folk music greats to pop stars «made in Nidwalden», the exhibition sheds light on the stories behind real hits, brings unheard tracks to your ears and invites you to dance in a recreated disco in the style of the 70s and 80s.
