Church of Buchberg and Rüdlingen
Bu yer hakkında
As early as 1130, a small church is mentioned in Rüdlingen, the St. Margarethen-Kirchlein. In the course of the 13th century, it was probably destroyed by a fire and was then not rebuilt. The St. Jakobskirche above the rectory on the site of today’s cemetery is also mentioned in documents. It originally belonged to the parish of Lottstetten. In the first years of the Reformation, Buchberg and Rüdlingen, which were then still one municipality, as well as the whole canton of Schaffhausen, adopted the Reformed faith. Despite several renovations in the 17th and 18th centuries, the St. Jakobskirche became increasingly dilapidated. The two municipalities finally decided to demolish the old church and rebuild it at the present location.
