New Wilderness
Bu yer hakkında
Surprising herbs growing between the paving stones, pioneer trees on vacant plots, rare plant species on unused wasteland, wild growth along railway tracks, non-native species spreading along the edges of motorways: in our urban environment, we are surrounded by spontaneous vegetation that uses every available ecological niche to lead an untamed life. Today, this particular kind of nature deserves not only to be appreciated for its unique qualities, but also to be encouraged. It offers the potential to develop a hopeful approach to our current landscapes and ways of life, one that is both ecologically aware and free of nostalgia. The exhibition presents selected projects from landscape architecture, research and ecology that, with innovative perspectives, foster a new wilderness and share a forward-looking understanding of urban nature. It was conceived by Studio Céline Baumann in collaboration with the Gewerbemuseum Winterthur.
