This bronze statue, depicting the famous Enlightenment philosopher and writer Jean-Jacques Rousseau, was created by the Genevan sculptor James Pradier. It was installed in 1835 on the Île Rousseau, which was specially named after him for the occasion. Standing above the lake, the sculpture shows the philosopher in classical dress writing. In 2012, Geneva celebrates the writer’s 300th birthday.
