Above the escalator that connects the station square with the station underpass, two large Plexiglas silhouettes hang. In Gerüst der Grenzen, the border lines of Switzerland (in red) and the canton of Graubünden (in blue) are layered over one another. By overlaying the course of the border, a special border-space world emerges. The play with the similar border lines emphasises their arbitrariness against the historical background and the reality today, which is rather island-like. The artwork integrated into the building is by Christoph Rütimann. When you arrive in Chur and Graubünden, you leave Switzerland behind you, and when you leave Chur, you travel into Switzerland – that is the artist’s idea.
