Om den här platsen

Access is signposted from the Inforama car park. In 1941/42, the Hondrich fortification, in the upper part of the Hondrich hill near Spiez, was excavated (shell) and completed in 1943 (reservoir, WC, iron doors, firing slits). The site served as a fighting position for the commander of the 3rd Division, as the artillery chief’s command post and for various heavy motor cannon units, as well as a fire-control post and observation work for the batteries in the surrounding area. The expansion in 1953/54 into a divisional and regimental firing centre improved the infrastructure (Art telephone exchange, engine room, gas lock). The conversion of the office wing, accommodation and kitchen took place in 1957. The observation positions were already no longer in use. The site served as the fire-control post of Fortification Section 15 and as the command post of Fortress Regiment 21 (fire coordination), as well as, until 1978, as the command post of Infantry Regiment 75. In addition to a main tunnel over 300 metres long, four double observation posts, a total of eleven radio niches and two entrances, each with a firing slit for close defence, there are offices and accommodation. The fortification is accessible only via a footpath. A new exhibition now shows the role of artillery observation back then. Every Tuesday at 18:00 by registration! Other viewing times and group visits are possible. www.festung-heinrich.ch
