Judo is not only a sport, but also a philosophy of personal development. In this sense, a judo master practises judo even when not in the training hall (Dojo). Two philosophical principles fundamentally underpin judo: mutual help and understanding for the progress and wellbeing of both, and the best possible use of body and mind. The aim is to carry these principles within you as an attitude and consciously express them in every movement on the mat.
