Exhibition | Eleanor Antin. A Retrospective

Tentoonstelling

Over deze plek

Her work questions identity, history and representation, combining profound humour with subtle storytelling. Antin’s cross-media practice – photography, film, text, performance, sculpture and installation – invites you to look again at familiar narratives and discover striking perspectives on our individual and social sense of self. At the centre of her work is performative self-staging, through which Antin has explored the fluid existence of the self since the late 1960s. She develops characters – including the king, the ballerina and the nurse – that embody different identities, historical references and inner contradictions. This retrospective highlights the many layers of Antin’s oeuvre and shows how current and powerful her work remains today. Curated for the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein by Christiane Meyer-Stoll with Henrik Utermöhle. The exhibition was initiated and organised by Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean. After Vaduz, the exhibition travels to MOCAK – Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Krakau.
