A special theatre experience awaits you on the grounds of the Tellspiele Interlaken. Many participants, including animals and especially the popular horse riders, will bring you closer to the story of Wilhelm Tell. Is he a hero, or is he merely taking revenge for Gessler’s arbitrariness, when Gessler demanded that Tell shoot an apple from his son’s head? Or does the murder of Gessler ultimately trigger the Swiss struggle for freedom? Director Urs Häberli and his team, together with all the performers, explore this exciting question. The play offers plenty of material and the characters’ emotions on stage, giving you something to reflect on. Themes such as ideas of freedom, private relationships, social differences and many more are central in Friedrich Schiller’s work, and so they are in «TELL UNSER HELD». You experience the play in two languages: the Habsburgs will speak German on stage, while the locals will interpret their roles in Swiss German. An approach to show the two different worlds on stage. It is very important to the director to tell stories in his production, and to bring them to the stage in an authentic, moving and understandable way.
