O ovoj lokaciji

From 31 January 2026, Museum Grenchen presents a new part of its permanent exhibition: Grenchäologie. The coined word combines «Grenchen» and «archaeology» – and that is exactly what it is about: archaeological finds from Grenchen and the surrounding area, which give fascinating insights into the past. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time from prehistory from 10’000 BC, via the Roman period, to the world of knights around 1300. Each find tells a story about the people who lived here, worked here and left their traces. Archaeology as detective work Excavations are only the beginning. It is only the careful analysis of the find context, materials and clues that creates a clear picture of the past. Archaeologists work like detectives who logically piece together the puzzle pieces to make new findings visible. If you want to know what the «Grenchäologie» reveals about life in Grenchen in Roman times and beyond, you should not miss a visit to the new permanent exhibition. Opening hours: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 14:00–17:00 An exhibition by the Canton Archaeology Solothurn for Grenchen
