O ovoj lokaciji

We take the expression “to have something on one’s Kerbholz” literally in this year’s special exhibition! The local museum in Habkern presents a fascinating selection of Kerbhölzer from across Switzerland and shows their varied uses as wooden records. Known under names such as Beilen or Tesseln, they were used for centuries to monitor alpine rights, milk accounts, herding duties, water usage, and as registers or receipts. The exhibition gives you a rare insight into the collection of the Alpine Museum in Bern – an opportunity you should not miss. Immerse yourself in a time when rights and duties were still recorded without paper or computers in a simple but ingenious way. The exhibition for the 750-year anniversary of the municipality of Habkern in 2025 can still be visited this year, and guides you through the history of our valley municipality using historical events, from the first mention of the village of Habkern in 1275.
