The Original USA Gospel Singers & Band sweep the audience along! With over 25 years of touring experience and more than a million visitors, the gospel group can already point to an impressive record! And the success story continues. They have delighted audiences not only at the venerable Scala in Milan, but also the Pope at the Christmas concert in the Vatican. The African-American gospel group with live band authentically brings the original feeling of Black gospel culture to life and tells its story. From its beginnings to the present day, from Mahalia Jackson to James Cleveland. The ensemble includes selected top singers, excellent soloists and musicians who, in a two-hour programme, offer everything that makes gospel so beautiful: emotion, spirituality and pure joy of life. The aim of every performance by the Original USA Gospel Singers is to bring people closer together through the immense spiritual power of the individual songs. An important part of every show is the audience’s active participation. Hand in hand, the audience experiences the power of true gospel music. The emotions stirred up make the evening an unforgettable experience. What characterises gospel? A typical feature of gospel singing is antiphony, the alternating singing between lead singer and choir, also called "Call and Response". Another Africa-influenced element of gospel music is the special quality of African tonality. Pentatonics predominates in it, that is, the use of a scale which, unlike the seven-note system of European music, uses only five notes. Later, heptatonics also emerged in African-American music, with the addition of the third and the seventh, the so-called "Blue Notes". These intervals are what still distinguish African and African-American music from the European major-minor modality. A final special feature, which can be traced back to the African roots of the Nigro Spirital, is "Timbre", the special tonal colour of the voice in African singing. In their singing, the singers develop a wealth of ways to differentiate individual notes. The main aim here is to give expression to the respective personal mood. This creates sounds that, on the one hand, can sound rough and hoarse, right up to an unclean cry, but on the other hand can also come across as pleasantly soft and delicate to the ear.
