Where can I find facilities for summer tobogganing?
For example, you can find a summer toboggan run on the Pfingstegg. It is also called Toboggan and accelerates up to 45 km/h. It runs over a distance of 725 meters from the top station to the bottom. If you want to ride it again right away, that's no problem. A toboggan lift will take you to the top
On Monte Tamaro there is a large summer toboggan run at the top station at Alpe Foppa. It is 800 meters long and contains several traffic circles and curves. In the double bobsled you can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h
Summer toboggan runs are also available at Pilatus, Appenzell, Grindelwald, Interlaken, Engelberg, Kerenzerberg, Saas Fee and other places
The longest summer toboggan run is considered to be the Fräkigaudi operated by Pilatusbahnen. The bobsled run Schongiland is even covered and can be ridden even when it rains
How does summer tobogganing work?
Summer tobogganing is usually done via a summer toboggan run. This facility is independent of snow or ice. You toboggan down to the valley on rails (Alpine Coaster) or in gullies. With both types of facilities, you can determine your own speed by means of a braking system. Recently, there are also summer toboggan runs, on which you drive down with a predefined vehicle, without being bound to a chute or track.
Are we allowed to summer toboggan in pairs on the facility?
Most summer toboggan runs are designed so that you can go down in pairs. On the Pfingstegg, for example, this is possible. However, please note the special rules of the respective track.
What rules do I have to follow when summer sledding?
Each summer toboggan run has rules that are published on the homepage and at the run itself. By buying a ticket you automatically accept the rules
In most cases, the following must be observed:
- Do not ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Use the toboggan run at your own risk
- No operation in wet conditions
- Children (mostly between 4 and 7 years) only accompanied by an adult
- Keep a minimum distance of 25 meters
- Drive only so fast that no one else is endangered
- Do not stop in the lane
- Do not carry cameras, cell phones or bags
- Keep hands and feet inside the sled - never touch the track. There is a high risk of burns.
Are there also places for summer tobogganing without a fixed track system?
Yes. For example, at Männlichen you can rent so-called Summergemel (also known as mountain cart). With it you drive down between the top station Männlichen and the middle station Holenstein in summer. The route for the Summer Gemel starts at an altitude of 2,225 meters and leads down about 600 meters over a length of 6 kilometers.
