Description
Rheinfelden, the beautiful small town in the canton of Aargau, offers some interesting and exciting stories, especially when it comes to women's history. During a tour through the charming old town, these stories will be brought closer to you. In the courtyard of the town hall you will meet your group or other participants (depending on the booking) and your guide.
Important women from the small town in Aargau were certainly Agnes von Rheinfelden and Nanette Kalenbach. Agnes von Rheinfelden was a princess and duchess around the year 1000 and as a noblewoman she was able to exert a great influence on the development of the Zähringer town. Nanette Kalenbach campaigned against poverty in Rheinfelden at the beginning of the 20th century and has thus gone down in the town's history
Practical information:
- The old town is car-free and can be reached in a short time from the parking garages in the area or from the train station
Swiss Activities Tip
The staircase leading from the train station up to the church square was named after the woman Nanette Kalenbach. She was not only a co-founder of the women's association and the women's choir of the town, but she also took care that a soup kitchen could open for the poorest
