Description
In the large St. Martin's Church in the middle of the old town of Rheinfelden stands a huge church organ. The fascinating instrument is enthroned on the gallery and delights the visitors of the church and the church services. In front of the large St. Martin's Church you will meet your guide with your group.
The organist Doris Haspra has designed a special tour for this exciting instrument. During the tour through the church, you will learn about the fine workings of the organ's interior using a smaller model. Funny anecdotes from everyday life in the church and further information about the instrument are also part of the tour
The grand finale is playing the large organ. You can try your hand at playing the organ and listen to the beautiful sounds in the church.
Practical Information:
- The old town is car-free and can be reached in a short time from the parking garages in the area or from the train station
Swiss Activities Tip
Gnawing at the hunger cloth - most people probably know this saying. In St. Martin's Church hangs a large Lenten cloth, a rarity from the 17th century and also known as the "hunger cloth". It was accidentally rediscovered during cleanup work in the 90s and has been hanging above the altar during Lent ever since.
