Kulturmuseum St. Gallen
About this place
The Kulturmuseum has one of the most important collections on cultural history in eastern Switzerland. One focus is the history of the city and region of St.Gallen (city model, textile industry). It also includes, among other things, the medical history of St.Gallen, Swiss porcelain (18th century) and costumes. The original historic rooms set special accents. The ethnological section lets you encounter ethnic groups from around the globe. A considerable share of the objects are donations from people from St.Gallen. Han Coray and Eduard von der Heydt are represented as two internationally known collectors. “Faszination Archäologie” gives you an introduction to the archaeology of the canton and city. A main theme is the excavations of recent years. An interactive laboratory explains how archaeology reaches its findings. The Kulturmuseum places great value on a varied offer for families and children (children’s museum, museum education).
