Lion Monument, Lucerne

The Lion Monument is a relief carved into a sandstone wall in 1821, based on a design by Bertel Thorvaldsen. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who fell in Paris in 1792. Set in a small park with a pond just a few minutes’ walk north of the old town, it can easily be combined with a visit to the neighbouring Glacier Garden.
