Description

Experience a true adventure by climbing with a professional mountain guide through the via ferrata in the Gorner Gorge. The dynamic course features abseiling points, zip-lines, pendulums, bridges, and spectacular rock formations carved by glaciers over rivers and nature.

You will meet your guide (and depending on the package, your group) at the designated meeting point in Zermatt. The easiest way is to meet at the provider’s base. Here you can collect your gear and get familiar with the upcoming experience. Together, you'll head to the start of the via ferrata.

After a leisurely hike into the gorge, the adventure begins. A 10-metre abseiling section marks the start of the via ferrata. From there, you'll traverse rocks, fallen trees, ladders, zip-lines, and walkways deep into the gorge and over rushing rivers. Your guide will always ensure you cross each obstacle safely. After this fantastic climbing adventure, you'll walk back comfortably along the hiking trail to Zermatt.

Practical information:

  • The via ferrata is classified as difficulty K2 (out of 6), medium level
  • Requirements: suitable for active persons without extensive climbing experience
  • Bring a climbing harness, helmet, gloves, a small backpack with drinks and snacks (via ferrata set can also be rented)
  • Don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Call 2-3 days before the tour to discuss weather conditions and details.

Swiss Activities Tip

In October, between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the lighting conditions become very special, causing the water to shine with vibrant turquoise hues.
