Swiss Activities Tip

As you drive towards Wasserauen, you see on the left side the Hundwiler Höhi (1306 m a.s.l.), a popular viewpoint. On the other side, you can see - a bit further away - the Alpstein massif with its highest peak Säntis (2502 m a.s.l.).

Traveling in a wheelchair

  • The trains of the SOB and the Appenzellerbahn increasingly have low-floor entrances (marked with NF in the timetable).
  • The SOB and the Appenzellerbahn offer assistance for people with limited mobility in cooperation with the SBB. The SBB Callcenter Handicap organizes help when changing trains, where platforms are not yet elevated and floors are not yet leveled. It helps you to prepare for barrier-free travel or if you need assistance while on the go.

Traveling with the dog

  • Taking small dogs up to 30 cm is free as long as they stay in a transport container the whole time. This must be stowed under your seat.
  • Dogs without a container and all dogs over 30 cm in shoulder height require a valid dog ticket: half price of the 2nd class or the minimum fare (dog day pass, dog pass). They need to sit under the seat so that the aisle is not blocked for other travelers.
