Telemark skiing could be described as a nostalgic way of skiing since it is the origin of the sport as we know it today. The main difference is the safety binding. In Telemark, only the toe pieces of the boots are secured to the skis. This allows for much greater freedom of movement. Especially on steep slopes, the alternating forward pushing of the feet in turns is important to safely master the slopes.
