Telemark skiing could be described as a nostalgic type of skiing because it is the origin of the sport as we know it today. The main difference is the safety binding. In telemark skiing, only the toe tips of the boots are secured to the ski. This allows for a completely different range of motion. Especially on steep slopes, it is important to push the feet alternately forward in turns to safely master the pistes.
