Samnaun is known for the snow-sure skiing area in the Silvretta Arena from the end of November to the beginning of May. In the ski resort connected with Ischgl (Austria) there are 239 km of ski slopes. The winter sports area is located at altitudes between 1800 and 2800 m above sea level. Samnaun is a duty-free resort and has therefore become a tourist attraction independent of winter sports. For hiking there are 250 km of hiking trails.
