Gabi Fuhrimann
About this place
The small-scale works of Aargau artist Gabi Fuhrimann (1958–2021) invite you to look at them up close. The mostly square, geometrically constructed paintings are arranged like a mosaic. A woman often stands at the centre of the motif. The body almost disappears in the play of colours — but not quite. Our closeness to the image creates an intimate view, like a devotional picture, in which you see the figure reading, dancing, stretching out her arms. Any one of us could be this woman: the image becomes a surface for projection, or even a mirror. The Aargauer Kunsthaus collected works during the artist’s lifetime and dedicates a collection focus to her.
