About this place
Inspired by the world exhibitions, the Commercial Directorate begins compiling the first sample collections for the regional textile industry in 1863. In 1986, the Textilmuseum opens in a palatial historicist building based on the design by the Zurich architect Gustav Gull. Alongside the Commercial Directorate’s collections, it houses the textile library and the drawing school, where aspiring designers and embroiderers are trained.
