We tap into history! – The industrial family, the brewmaster, the maltster, the wagon master and the chief bookkeeper: more than 80 different professions shaped the history of Haldengut brewery between 1843 and 2002. The former fermentation tank becomes a memory tank at Museum Schaffen. The stories stored in this tank still resonate today. In the exhibition « Erinnerungstank Haldengut », unique objects take you into a bygone working world. Old advertising posters, tools, a live yeast culture and Switzerland’s first alcohol-free beer tell of inventiveness, identity and entrepreneurial risk. At the centre is the brewery as a working cosmos, where people, horses and machines work side by side. Former employees and contemporary witnesses speak in the exhibition too. Together, we ask what remains when an industrial business disappears. Come along and tap a piece of Winterthur history for yourself!
