The Swiss Museum of Childhood in Baden explores childhood, the child’s world and how it has changed over the past centuries up to the present day. Through historical objects, interactive stations and shared play, young and old guests experience together how children’s lives have changed over the last 300 years. It is the only institution in Switzerland that deals with the theme of childhood in this form. It is based on an extensive study collection and specialist library. In its permanent exhibition, the museum shows how play and toys have changed using historical originals and brings this to life at various hands-on stations. Audio stations bring the everyday life of children from different centuries to life. School life – a central part of children’s everyday world – is given three themed rooms.
