Still life and food culture in works from the Würth Collection “You are what you eat.” This statement, usually attributed to the philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach, gets to the heart of the matter. Food is an existential, cultural and social topic. It concerns us every day, as we repeatedly have to decide what we take in, and on a global scale too. Production, supply chains, packaging, etc. are closely linked ecologically in many ways. Added to this is food culture, which has developed its rituals from cookery to the way of eating, and varies greatly from region to region. No wonder, then, that the theme has found many echoes in art, and has done so since the earliest cultural records. Modern and contemporary art also engages with this central human field of themes. The works in the exhibition at Forum Würth Chur show this in a varied selection from the Würth Collection.
