Gantrisch Regional Museum
About this place
The museum for the region’s history and stories. The Gantrisch Regional Museum deals with everything that shapes the region from the Sense to the Gürbetal in terms of folklore, history and culture. The museum’s exhibition space is around 330 m2. A large part of the space is taken up by the successful annual temporary exhibitions, which change every year. The permanent exhibitions, with numerous objects from the collection, are newly presented and focus on themes rooted in the region. The collection comprises over 4'000 objects from the region. These include archaeological finds that document the area’s early settlement, as well as objects on the Way of St James, the Grasburg ruins, the early days of tourism, traditional costumes, weights and measures, glass and ceramics, kitchen furnishings, and tools used in farming and alpine farming. On request, the museum provides access to a documentation centre with extensive text and image material on the region.
