Ortsmuseum Albisrieden / Alte Mühle

About this place

At the Ortsmuseum Albisrieden, you can see how people used to live in the former village, with a fitted-out smoke kitchen, living room and bedroom. Tools and equipment, including a cider press, a cooper’s workshop, a shoemaker’s workshop and a hairdressing setup, show the trades that once existed there. In the «Chilezimmer», you can see church objects, Bibles, a baptismal font cover from 1678 and communion vessels from the 18th century. Since 1991, you have been able to visit the former Albisrieden mill at Wydlerweg 19. The water wheel, 6.5 m in diameter, turns again as it used to.
