About this place
Located not far from the cathedral, the Espace is a magical place, conceived as a tribute to the creativity of a legendary 20th-century artist couple. Built in 1900, the building was originally the Fribourg tram depot. With its mysterious and colourful atmosphere, it is now an ideal place to discover key works by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle in Switzerland. The Espace also shows temporary exhibitions dedicated to the contemporary collection of the Musée d’art et d’histoire Fribourg or to artists whose works are in dialogue with those of Tinguely or Saint Phalle.
