Museum Lindengut
About this place
Villa Lindengut, built around 1780, is set in a splendid park that invites you to linger. Richly decorated panelling from urban town houses and baroque tower stoves make the rooms shine. Temporary exhibitions present themes from Winterthur’s history. The objects, from Roman antiquity to the modern era, tell of famous men and forgotten women, of outstanding craft businesses and past industries, of the customs and vices of our ancestors. The rich toy collection in the former coach house is equally appealing. Under the label «museum schaffen», the Lindengut is given an exciting extension: at changing locations suited to the respective content, it explores a theme that shapes our everyday life like almost no other – work. The «museum schaffen» sometimes relies on participation and the stories of the local people.
