This national touring exhibition explores the Swiss history of coercive welfare measures and placements outside the family, and how these are being addressed, bringing the topic to all regions of the country. The exhibition offers a multi-voiced yet scientifically grounded approach to this chapter of Swiss history, which has profoundly shaped many lives. Visitors encounter personal life stories from those affected and gain an insight into the long road of political reckoning. You learn how coercive welfare measures came about and what consequences they still have today. And you are invited to ask: can past injustice be put right? And what can we do to make sure this history is not repeated? The touring exhibition is at Lausanne until March 2026. From 13 May to 23 October 2026, it will be shown in Luzern, then in Schaffhausen, Bellinzona and Bern. The touring exhibition was created by Expositionen (curation: Detlef Vögeli) and ZMIK (scenography) on behalf of the Federal Office of Justice. It is part of the Remembering for Tomorrow programme. The visit is recommended for ages 12 and up.
