Tips from people who have been
From forums and reports, checked by us and put in our own words. Every tip names its sources.
Take the train to Sierre and from there the funicular up; the valley station is only a few minutes’ walk from the railway station. During the World Championships, the funicular and shuttles between Sierre and Crans-Montana are free.
There’s no spectator parking at the top, and the funicular is the most direct way up to the plateau.
Good to know, from official information and the press
- If you come by car, park down in Sierre, as there’s no spectator parking in Crans-Montana during the World Championships. At the 2025 test event for the World Championships, you had to reserve the car park at Sierre station (CHF 5 per day) in advance. Source
- Without a ticket you can’t get into the Barzettes finish stadium; free options are the Ycoor fan zone in the village centre with a big screen and, if you ski, the edges of the pistes in the ski area. You can only reach the 2006 and Houlès zones right by the speed pistes on skis and with a ticket. Source
- Set off early and expect longer journey times than usual; at the 2025 test event for the World Championships, the free transport from Sierre was already running from 6.30. Source
- Get around the plateau on foot: The funicular’s top station, the finish stadium and the Ycoor fan zone are close together. Source
- Only buy World Championship tickets through the official Swiss-Ski channel; reselling on other platforms is prohibited. Children up to 5 get in free, and 6- to 15-year-olds pay half. Source
