Description

A boat trip on Lake Lucerne shouldn't be missed on any trip to the Lucerne region. With this day pass, you can explore the lake with all scheduled passenger ships and discover the many exciting places and routes along the lake.

Lake Lucerne is one of the most diverse lakes in Switzerland. It offers a variety of nature that ranges from a Mediterranean-like climate to fjord landscapes.

Plan your trip with a modern motorboat or one of the five steamers:

  • City of Lucerne: the "flagship" is the largest and most impressive passenger ship on the lake, featuring a beautiful Art Deco salon.
  • Galia: the fastest steamer offers a salon in the New Empire style.
  • Schiller: the classic steamer in the Art Nouveau style.
  • Unterwalden: this ship is a listed building, and the salon has been renovated in the Rococo style.
  • Uri: the oldest ship of the fleet offers you a Neo-Baroque salon in the style of the 20th century.

Traveling with a wheelchair

  • All ships of the SGV (except MS Rütli) are wheelchair accessible.
  • Wheelchair accessible toilets are available on all ships (except MS Rütli and MS Mythen).
  • The accesses to the outer decks and restaurants in 2nd class are at ground level.
  • On the ship MS Diamant, the 1st class area on the upper deck is accessible by a lift.

Traveling with the dog

  • Dogs with a shoulder height of under 30 cm: free, as long as they're in a suitable basket or in a pet-friendly bag.
  • All other dogs: Dog ticket (single journey: CHF 10.00, return journey: CHF 12.00)
  • Official course trips: Dogs are very welcome. This includes the lunchtime boat, Urnersee lunchtime boat, breakfast boat, and breakfast on course boats.
  • On all other additional themed trips, dogs are not allowed.

Swiss Activities Tip

A trip to Lake Lucerne definitely includes a ride to Bürgenstock. Take the Bürgenstock funicular from the Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock stop to expand your view of Lake Lucerne. The following smaller villages along the lake are also very worth a visit.

  • Meggenhorn: from here you can take a 10-minute stroll to Meggenhorn Castle and enjoy a fantastic view of the lake and the city of Lucerne.
  • Küssnacht am Rigi: This place at the northern end of the lake offers beautiful sunsets with a view of Pilatus, the local mountain of Lucerne.
