Description

Learn the basics you need for high-altitude tours and glacier hikes in this course. An experienced mountain guide shows you how to handle an ice axe, rope, and crampons in the alpine mountains. You can put what you’ve learned into practice on the second day during your ascent of the 4000-meter Breithorn.

On the first day, you meet your private mountain guide in Zermatt. You check your gear and get to know each other. From Zermatt, you all take a trip together to Trockener Steg and tackle a short ascent to the Gandegg hut.

On the Lower Theodul Glacier, your basic course begins. You learn how to behave on a high-altitude tour and how to handle the equipment correctly.

In the evening, you spend the night at the Gandegg hut. The next morning, after a short walk to Trockener Steg, you take the cable car to the Klein Matterhorn station. From there, the ascent to the Breithorn (4164 m) begins, where you can now directly apply all your knowledge. Enjoy the alpine landscape and the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain peaks. The hike takes about 3-4 hours.

After descending from the Breithorn, you head home.
